Opening of our ninth free-lending library in Vietnam

On 29.6.2016 a volunteer group of our organization was able to open another free-lending library for children and adolescents in the Phuc Xuan Municipality, Soc Son District, about 40km far from Hanoi. This is the ninth free-lending library in Vietnam, which was set up by our organization with the use of donations.

IMG_8239A total of 1,080 books were put into the shelves and cabinets. There are health books, history books and schoolbooks, as well as novels for children and the youth and picture books.

IMG_8372The new free-lending library is located in the community center of the Phuc Xuan Municipality in Soc Son. Near the village there are two primary schools with 1,800 pupils and a secondary school which is attended by 1,200 pupils.

IMG_8383All children and youth can now borrow books for free in this poverty-stricken region. The joy at the new public library is large.

IMG_8251IMG_8236In the opening ceremony folk songs were sung, dances were performed and there were various speeches by the village representatives and the leaders of our organization “Hope for Tomorrow”.

IMG_8260The representative of the Phuc Xuan community thanked very much for the establishment of the lending library.

IMG_8385We thank all donors in Vietnam and from abroad, who have enabled the realization of this project.
We are sure that the new library will be actively used and we wish that we can open more free-lending libraries in other towns in the future.
